Golden Jubilee Institution 1957 - 2007

Our Institute is the oldest one among others in Tamil Nadu. It has been functioning since 1957 to make the youths as skilled worker. It has been affiliated to National Council of Vocational Training under DGET, New Delhi. It is functioning under the control of Department of Employment and Training, Government of Tamil Nadu. It aims to impart training into the age group between 14 and 40 years for men and women under Craftsmen Training Scheme. It is situated in 14.5 acres of area in between Nagapattinam and Nagore adjacent to District Collector office, Nagapattinam.

Training is imparted in ten Engineering Trades and one Non Engineering Trade at this Institute. It helps to develop technical skill to both men and women to meet out the industrial needs.

  • More than 90% Trainees have passed in All India Trade Test in 2 Years Trade every year
  • We have provided high configuration Computers with internet facility

In order to provide technical skill to the minimum qualified persons, short term course has been introduced under Modular Employable Skills [MES] sponsored by Government of Tamil Nadu and SDI MES sponsored by Government of India from the year 2007. This short term courses are conducted at the minimum of 40 days and maximum of 70 days training for 3.00 Hrs per day between 5 PM and 8 PM.

In addition to the above, the scheme of upgradation under CoE has been newly implemented from the year 2009-2010 with World Bank Assistance and courses may be commenced soon. It aims to upgrade the existing trades and introduce additional trades at this Institute for the welfare of unskilled persons.

TCPC has been constituted with One Training Officer and Two Assistant Training Officers to arrange apprenticeship training and placements for our trainees. Many reputed companies comes to select our trainees for apprenticeship training and placements through campus interviews. TCPC plays a vital role for the arrangements of campus interviews to trainees. Selected trainees for apprenticeship training are given stipend as per the norms under Apprenticeship Act 1961. Selected trainees for placements are given more than Rs. 5000/- as salary by reputed companies.

TCPC arranges placements even the trainees those who have not passed in the All India Trade Test.


Registers are maintained regarding the arrival of reputed companies who conduct campus interviews for our trainees. Selected details of trainees are entered in this Register. Trainees who are working in companies selected directly are also entered in this Register. This register shows the relevant particulars regarding the performance of TCPC constituted at this Institute.

Applications are issued to the applicants from the date of +2 results announced by Government of Tamil Nadu on payment of Rs. 50/- each. Candidates who have passed minimum qualification of 8th standard may apply for the trades under this scheme. Candidates should be at the age between 14 and 40 years for both men and women may apply. Age relaxation is also given to ex-serviceman and destitute widows up to 45 years for admission. Training period commences on August and ends on July every year all over Tamil Nadu.


Applications received from the candidates are scrutinized and aggregate marks in Maths and Science obtained by the candidates are taken into account for admission to Engineering trades available at this Institute. Aggregate marks in English obtained by the candidates are taken into account for admission to Non-Engineering trade available at this Institute.

Agriculture Stipend

Eligible candidates are given bonafide Certificate to apply for scholarship under Farmers Security Scheme to Special Tahsildar [Social Welfare] of concerned Taluk.
